Our 5 Best-Selling Coldroom Door Handles
These are the five best-selling coldroom door handles we stock, ranked by what our customers actually buy most. If you're trying to identify a handle or find a replacement, start here.
Coldroom door handles take a beating. They're used dozens of times a day, hit by trolleys, exposed to condensation, and expected to work reliably in cold, damp conditions. When they fail, you need the right replacement quickly.
These are our five best-selling coldroom door handles, ranked by what our customers actually buy most. If you're trying to identify a handle, this is a good place to start.
1. Fermod 921 - The Most Common Handle on UK Coldroom Doors
The Fermod 921 is probably the most widely fitted coldroom handle in the UK. It has been used by independent coldroom door manufacturers for decades and you'll find it on rooms of all ages and sizes. Robust, reliable, and well-supported with spare parts.
The most common reasons for replacement are a damaged internal release, a broken emergency release, or a damaged strike and latch. It takes a knock well but constant trolley and pallet truck traffic will eventually take its toll.

2. Kason 58 - The Handle Found on Foster and Williams Doors
The Kason 58 is a heavy-duty handle made in the USA and commonly found on older Foster Coldstore and Williams doors, usually on rebated and semi-rebated door types. Built from high-pressure die-cast zinc with a malleable iron handle, it's a proven piece of kit designed for hard commercial use.
The most common fault is a broken internal spring, which leaves the latching mechanism unresponsive. The good news is it's a straightforward fix with just four screws to remove the handle.
One thing worth knowing: the Kason 58 is often confused with the CHG chrome handle, which looks very similar but is an imported alternative. The screw hole centres are slightly different, though in most cases you can re-tap the holes and fit the Kason 58 in its place.

3. Fermod 521 - The Modern Replacement for the 921
The 521 is Fermod's updated handle and is now fitted as standard on all new Foster Coldstore doors. Similar in function to the 921 but with a rounded body and strike, it's becoming the handle of choice across new installations.
If you're replacing a 921 on an older door, it's worth checking whether the 521 is a compatible upgrade. To remove the handle, take off the internal release first, then use a 17mm socket and slotted screwdriver to remove the main body from the door.

4. MTH 500 TN - The Face-Mounted Italian Handle
The MTH is a face-mounted handle made in Italy, where the internal handle catches against a small strike plate mounted on the door reveal to hold the door shut. The external and internal handles clamp onto the door using two 6mm threaded rods, making removal straightforward with a 13mm socket or spanner.
A solid handle found across a range of European-manufactured coldrooms. If you've got a face-mounted handle and it isn't a Fermod, there's a good chance it's an MTH.

5. Jumbo System 6000 - The Handle on Small Modular Coldrooms
The Jumbo System 6000 by Rahrbach is typically found on small modular coldrooms, most commonly Porkka rooms. It comes in grey enamel or chrome finish and is easy to identify once you know what you're looking at.
The two most common faults are a broken spring in the main body of the handle, or a damaged strike and latch. Replacement is simple — the internal handle unscrews anticlockwise, giving you access to the main components without any specialist tools.
