1. Prepare Your Tools Before you begin, gather the necessary tools: a 17mm socket with an extension bar, a flat-headed screwdriver, an 8mm spanner, and a wooden block.

2. Remove the Existing Handle Start by removing the green rubber cap from the inner release handle. Then, remove the screws from the inner release handle and remove the handle and black push rod that connects the inner and outer handles.

3. Access and Loosen the External Handle Locate the 17mm nut at the back of the external handle. Use your 17mm socket with the extension bar to turn the nut anti-clockwise and loosen the handle.

4. Free the Handle from the Door Next, remove the two slotted screws above and below the handle’s latch component. This step will free the handle from the door. You can opt to reuse the brass-coloured fixing plate if desired.

5. Install the New Handle To attach the new handle, follow the removal steps in reverse order. Secure the handle back onto the door and tighten the 17mm nut to ensure a snug fit.

6. Check the Strike Alignment After installation, use an 8mm spanner to double-check the strike alignment. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure the door closes tightly without excessive strain on the strike.

7. Correct Any Door Twisting If the door doesn’t seal correctly in the top or bottom corners, use a wooden block to apply pressure to the opposite corner and correct any twisting.

By following these steps, you can successfully replace your door handle and give your door a fresh, updated look. Remember, safety first—take your time and use the appropriate tools for the job. Enjoy your newly revamped door handle!
